The Journey...

The design proposal for Industrial Design Faculty reflects the Industrial Design process into the site. The three
parts-Introduction, Making , and the Production of the object are manifested in the three different building proposals
on the site. This is reflected in the actual program of the buildings and the relationship between them, while surrounding
a common public space.
It is also influenced by the actual site conditions of solar penetration, relationship to pedestrian traffic
modes and the surrounding buildings, bringing though these factors in the public space which all
buildings relate and have access to.

Site Analysis

On the second week, we need to pin up our research studies on the site proposed as the first week we spent our tutorial time for site investigation. These would include traffic flows within and external to site to get the suitable location for ingress and egress. Wind flow and sun orientation context studies will guide to design building form which will influence location of openings, patterned of shadow and building height weather will affect surrounding neighborhoods. Topography is important to know the slope site and landscaping which need to consider of trees and shrubs to propose so that the cool and hot air can be utilized. Site character study analysis will be expected at the end of the day.

Site

The site is located near to the coastal and enclosed by rich local culture and history context. Next to Deakin Waterfront University, the site is in the centre of two busiest roads of Brougham St and Gheringhap St. Neighbors to loads of tourist attractions such as Ford Discovery Centre, Bay City Plaza, historical place, Wool Museum, Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Cunningham Pier, Eastern Beach Swimming Pool, and Botanical Gardens.

Geelong

Geelong is Victoria’s largest regional city, with a population of over 200 000; it is less than an hour from Melbourne. Discovered in 1802, Geelong was declared a town in 1838. A vibrant shipping port, it flourished through trade during the gold rush with its wool, textile and farming industries. Tourism is now Geelong’s largest industry.
